Fixtures and semi-automatic removal
The machine comprises a positioning platform, removal tool, operator controls and drive mechanism. An operator loads cylindrical cells into matching fixtures; the drive moves the tool to remove residual welds, with direction, speed or stroke set for the process.
Operation is semi-automatic, combining manual loading with mechanical finishing. The drive type and tooling are confirmed during selection. Fixtures must suit the cell-end geometry and its condition after connector removal.
Processing range and end inspection
The specified residual-weld diameter is below 5 mm. This dimension refers to the weld, not the cell diameter. Cell formats, weld material, residual height and removal allowance require fixture and processing trials.
After trimming, the cell end, connector residues and surface condition are checked against downstream requirements. For different cylindrical lithium-ion or nickel-metal-hydride cells, end-cap structure, weld condition and tooling define the processing range and acceptance criteria.
